We had a lecture on Ethics and how our positioning within the industry as a practitioner shapes the way that we show our design skills to the world.
I found this very helpful when confirming my thoughts on how to react to client, handling fees and the general responsibility we take on when having a client to designer relationship.
We use our relationships to gain trust and stick to it when dealing with multiple design projects and always asking for permission when putting your name to design work when approaching future clients with work that might be considered collaborative.
Although the temptation to showcase work prior to launch dates and deadlines it's important to keep all work, conversations and ideas completely confidential.
This lecture massively helped me think about future work with clients having dealt with professionals who haven't kept work confidential and asked for work to be pulled up earlier than agreed launch dates or swerving agreed fees. Which has made me more aware that this behaviour can work on both sides of the business table so it's important to stay cautious in an industry who might try to cut corners.
