EYESHADOW PALLETTES

Further using experimentation with a zoom lens, this is shot with a Nikon D5100 and 70-200mm lens, which isn't ideal for close up work but the zoom in combination with how the contrast comes out is perfect for how I've liked shooting beauty and product related shots.

I've been looking into the informalities of beauty products and how consumers don't like to see overtly polished shots, which I think has always reflected my 'style' of photography, which I personally think is lovely subjects in a context of either brightly coloured/washed out backdrops giving an element of character or extra personification and identification through colour association instead of categorically photographing a subject for analysis which is often ideal for the mainstream marketplace.

The ideas behind these photos is the common use of Urban Decays Naked Palette's particular selection of colours used in the beauty industry which is on the lighter end of the scale: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar and Buck. Whilst the other end commonly used in Smog and Darkhorse. Using shallow depth of field with a large aperture and selected focus I wanted to target a particular range.

I've been considering photographers like Zachary Goulko and exploring his methods of focusing and also the framing, colours and use of negative spacing to identify meaning behind his photos.
